In this Everest Base Camp Leisurely Trek, you’ll see the side of the country that does what it does, and it is to capture your imagination not just the mountains but the people you meet.
Embark on The Everest Base Camp Leisurely & Heli Return Trek, and trace Nepal’s classic trekking routes that legendary climbers Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa once journeyed during their conquest of Mount Everest. These historic paths, also frequented by traders and merchants, offer a journey rich in history and adventure. This trail takes you across remote alpine regions, mountain ranges, glacier moraine and folds, lakes, and raging rivers. Where you’ll be happy to travel, discover new things, and meet new people.

The Everest Base Camp Leisurely of 12 days combines breathtaking panoramas of the world’s highest mountains with unique Sherpa culture, a big territory with very few inhabitants. The trip starts with a flight from Kathmandu Lukla, a charming settlement with spectacular vistas of the mighty Himalayas. Upon landing at the Lukla airstrip, you’ll begin your Everest Base Camp trek. The trails of the region are well established with tea houses providing various types of facilities. The settlement of Phakding, Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, Gorakshep and the base camp can be reached through this well-established route.
After landing at Lukla, head towards the settlement of Phakding, small Sherpa settlement hidden in the heart of Dudh Koshi. From Lukla descend towards the Dudh Koshi and follow the trail you’ll witness majestic views of Kumbila and sister summit Kusum Kanguru a holy peak that no one is permitted to climb, making it one of the few unclimbed summits in the Khumbu area. Next head towards Namche Bazar known as the “Sherpa capital”, also the Sagarmatha National Park entrance and a UNESCO world heritage site, as you reach the settlement of Namche Bazar, you’ll catch your first glimpse of Mount Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Then head towards Pangboche diverting from the main trail. Once you reach Pangboche visit the oldest monastery of the Khumbu region, the Riwa Gompa.
Next head towards Dingboche crossing across high Himalayan grazing lands and following the Imja Khola the following day head on an acclimatization excursion on Dingboche hiking up a small ridge to Chukhung Ri. Embark from Dingboche towards Lobuche, traversing through the rugged Himalayan landscape. Experience the pristine blue waters of Chola Lake and journey across glacier moraine while accompanied by the majestic peaks of Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Pumori. Today you’ll be heading towards Gorak Shep along the trail you’ll cross Changri glacier and Khumbu Glacier with views of mountain giants of Taboche, Lobuche, Pumori, and the rest of Mahalangur Himal peaks, along with views upto Tibet and Nuptse on the eastern horizon. Once you reach Gorak Shep head towards Everest Base Camp.

Everest Base Camp takes you past the shallow blue waters of Gorak Shep lake, glaciers, icefalls, frozen pools of meltwater, exposed icy walls, and large boulders. Everest Base Camp is situated at an elevation of 5,364 meters (17,598 feet). Once done exploring the base camp head back to Gorak Shep. Next, you’ll be heading to the highest point of your trek a vantage point renowned in the Everest region. Kala Patthar at an elevation of 5545 meters/18193 feet from where you’ll get a panoramic view of highest mountains. Witness Everest, Nuptse, and Changtse summit of Lhotse and countless other peaks. From Gorak Shep head on a thrilling helicopter ride back to Kathmandu. The ride offers a different perspective of the region flying admits the snowcapped peaks.
